Emu's (E-Mews)
The Emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae) is the second largest bird in the world and is native to Australia. It is one of the five remaining species of the Ratite family - the other four being the Ostrich, Rhea, Cassowary and the Kiwi. The Moa was a sixth species but became extinct in the early 1900's. The word ratite is latin and means 'without a keel' - none of these birds have a wishbone and are therefore flightless.
The Emu has several unique charateristics - their eggs have 3 different layers of color -white, aqua and emerald green, the males sit the eggs and raise the chicks, their feathers have two feathers to one quill and they aren't very bright creatures.

About Us
Lance & Jackie Talley
Our beginnings in the Emu industry originated in Tucson, AZ. about 10 years ago which is when we bought our first breeder pair of birds. We moved to Benson, AZ. a couple of years later and started raising more birds. And then more birds and MORE birds and M O R E birds! Needless to say, the feed bill was becoming a bit onerous and there were no big companies banging on the ranch house door wanting to buy these critters so we decided to start making 'stuff' and selling at craft shows and farmers markets. Now we have added the internet to the marketing venue in an effort to make our products available to even more folks with dry skin, burns, insect bites, cracked fingers, cracked heels and sore muscles.
